A Camping Birthday Party!

Today we celebrated Reid's first birthday with a camping party at Hafer Park! The weather could not have been more perfect and we were joined by all of our in town family and a few close friends from our small group. Reid was so blessed to have everyone here with him and truly enjoyed every minute of his party (except the part where we made him eat cake but we'll get to that!)

The kids played in the tent, played a fishing game, ate gummy worms, s'mores, etc. and even walked down to the playground for awhile. They enjoyed playing in the leaves more than on the playground equipment!

Then it was time to sing "Happy Birthday" and offer Reid his first taste of cake. The child literally began gagging the minute he touched the cake...with his finger!! Once I put some in his mouth, he spit it out as fast as he could! I couldn't believe just how much he hated it so I tried cutting it and offering him some actual cake instead of just icing. No go. We were dying laughing! Oh well, I gave him a graham cracker and served cake to everyone else so everyone was happy. :)

I am so glad to finally have a boy with a fall birthday!! January and February do not allow for outdoor parties so it was a real treat to be able to have such a nice outdoor party.
