Off to a Great Start!

Graham is one week old today (22 minutes ago to be exact) and he is just off to the most amazing start! This little guy was nursing like a champ from the very beginning and although I knew he was doing well, it was nice to have the doctor confirm that for me this week. We took Graham to see Dr. Albiek for the first time on Monday and he weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces. He had not lost the 10% that newborns normally lose in the first couple of days, so we were very pleased. We took him back on Thursday just to make sure he was gaining, and this time he weighed in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces, his birth weight! That is pretty amazing considering the doctor wants to see newborns gain an ounce a day (he gained 7 in 3 days) and likes to see them back at their birth weight by two weeks (this was on day 6). I am just amazed at how quickly little Graham has fallen into a good sleeping and eating schedule. He is such a laid back little guy and we are loving every minute with him! I'm especially loving the fact that I am getting a decent amount of sleep every night! Jack is the love of my life, but he certainly was not an easy baby, so this is quite a change for us.

Meanwhile, big brother is just doing a great job as well. He absolutely loves Graham and enjoys playing with him and helping Mommy take care of him. I can tell he is going to be the best big brother! Beyond all of that, he is just growing up so fast lately, it seems. He shot up like a weed the past couple of months and he amazes us every day with new vocabulary skills. I have such mixed emotions when I look at him and realize he's not my baby anymore.

We are truly so blessed with these sweet little boys. I am so thankful for them and am so excited to see them grow up!

More Graham

Introducing Graham Arthur Biggs

It's a boy! Graham was born on January 22 at 2:23pm. He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces, and measured 20.5 inches long. He is just perfect!

Little River Zoo

Last week while we were waiting patiently (sort of) for Graham to arrive, Randy, Jack, and I took a trip to Norman to visit the Little River Zoo to pass some time. Little River Zoo is a small zoo that is more hands on than the big OKC zoo. We toured the grounds, looking at monkeys, foxes, bobcats, etc. and we even fed the kangaroos! At the end of the tour was a petting zoo where Jack was able to pet goats, sheep, pigs, and even a skunk and a rat! Mommy stayed back for that part...

Due Date

Although Randy and I have educated ourselves on the subject of childbirth and are well aware that the average length of pregnancy for a second time mom is 40 weeks, 3 days (3 days after the due date), it is still a bit depressing to hit the day you've been counting down to for nine months and not have a baby in your arms! We're praying we come in on this side of the average and Baby Biggs makes his/her arrival in the next day or two.

Since I was induced at 39 weeks with Jack, this is the first time I've experienced being THIS pregnant and I have to say it's not too pleasant. But, I am comforted knowing that our decision not to be induced or use pain medication is the healthiest one for baby and me. Say some prayers for Randy and me as we are both getting a bit nervous about labor. But above all, keep praying for a safe delivery and a healthy baby!

39 Weeks, 1 Day

Kind of blurry, but it will have to do. I'm praying this is the last picture! I don't really want to make it to 40 weeks!

38 Weeks

Snowman!

The snow was finally sticky enough for us to build a snowman on Sunday!

God Bless America

The most beautiful rendition of "God Bless America" that I've ever heard:

More Christmas?!

On the 27th, we went to my parents house to eat breakfast and see Hayley and Nick off. I hated to see them leave, but luckily they will be back soon, when the baby comes!

Because of the weather, Nancy, Collin, and Cody were unable to make it on Christmas day so they came to town on the 26th. We missed seeing them unfortunately, but they did leave a present behind for Jack (possibly his favorite present of all)... a kitty cat! Not a real one of course, but it does purr and meow. Jack fell in love right away and named the kitty Sally. She has hardly left his sight since!

Christmas #2

On December 26, Jack woke up and immediately remembered...presents! He played in his new tent for a bit and then insisted on eating breakfast in his new wagon. Such simple things can be so exciting! Later that morning, we headed to Tulsa to celebrate Christmas with Randy's family. Thank goodness the roads were clear enough to make the drive! It was such a nice day with family. First, we went to Aunt Mavis' house for lunch. Jack had a blast playing with his cousins, Ty and Parker! The boys can be so rambunxious when they're together and it is quite a sight! Then we headed over to Randy's Granny's house to spend time with her and Aunt Hetty as well as celebrate Christmas. It was so nice to see them if even for a short time. Jack had been talking about his Aunt Hetty ever since she came to see his Christmas program and he always loves to see his Great Granny. Finally, we headed back to Gigi and Papa's house for a quick nap and presents. Jack was spoiled again (as well as Randy, me, and even Baby) and had a great time. He got several trucks this year. I didn't even know he liked trucks, but he has been playing with them ever since!
