Teething and Portraits and Squash, oh my!!

Jack is officially TEETHING, aughh! Actually, I don't know how official these things really are but he has all the classic symptoms, including my least favorite- "frequent night waking." Needless to say, we have our hands full with little Jack these days. Hopefully he'll get these first ones in soon and we'll have our happy guy back!

Today Grammy and I took Jack to have his 6 Month pictures made. He did pretty well considering the current state of things. No crying at all, but we couldn't get a smile either. I'm sure the pictures will be cute anyway, how could they not be?!

Recently Jack started eating solid foods for the first time! I can't believe he is so big! He absolutely loves green beans and squash but he really wasn't a fan of the rice cereal (who can blame him?) Here are some pics of some of the first tastes...

The Lake

Jack went to the lake house for the first time! The lake was a mess so he wasn't able to go in the boat, but he absolutely loved swimming in the pool. We thought he would be bothered by the cold water, but he seemed to have a great time. Here are some pics.

Well, it has been a hectic month so we apologize for the lack of updates, especially considering that there are a ton of things to update! Daddy accepted a new job in Oklahoma last month and we quickly put the house for sale, packed up, and moved into Grammy and Granddad's house while we figure everything out.

The Latest Jack News

- He rolled over for the first time a few weeks ago!! He rolled back to tummy but is now rolling both ways.
- He began sleeping through the night for 12 hours straight!! It is not consistent but he is doing it fairly regularly so great news for Mommy.
- He visited Granddad's office and met several co-workers- he especially liked the receptionist, Debbie, who couldn't wait to meet him.
- He cut four teeth and it looks like there are more coming soon. He is drooling all over the place and chewing on everything! He has to wear a bib all the time.
- He reached out for his Daddy to pick him up.
- He began holding his own bottle (not very well, but still...)
- He visited Granny B. and Grandpa's house for Father's Day.
- He was visited by Uncle Dan, "Aunt" Adrienne, and Aunt Hayley.
- He was baby-sat by his Uncle Kenny for the first time.
- He is learning how to co-exist with Jake, the rambunxious golden retriever puppy. He loves petting Jake and being licked in the face!
- He has some new toys that he loves- he especially loves his bouncy seat.
- He hung out with his friend, Maxton, at a barbecue.
- He attended a wedding reception for our cousin, Toby and his wife, Jessica.

So, Jack's first three months have been filled with a lot of drama and worry. Kristin and I have ensured that our gray hairs will sprout early, but it would seem that our little man truly is getting better. He spends most of his awake time smiling and laughing and he absolutely loves his toys. Kristin and I have a difficult time now getting him to pay attention to anything but his activity center (see video). If he's in the same room with it (and he knows what room it's in) he cranes his head around until he finds it and just stares longingly until we give in and let him play.

A lot of people have uttered a lot of prayers on Jack's (and our) behalf and we just want to thank all of you. Additionally, Jack's grandparents have been so, so very helpful over the past three months. Granddad, Grammy, Grandpa, and Granny B have offered their time and energy nearly every weekend and several weekdays. And we have graciously accepted almost each and every offer. Grammy (Terri) and Granny B (Trena) will be coming down the next two weeks as well while Kristin goes back to work and finishes out the school year. That is going to be a tremendous help, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

To say that Jack has been a handful these past three months would be an understatement, but through the hours of crying and some 15+ doctor visits, it has become increasingly apparent that our little family is one that is truly loved and will never lack for support. Thank you all for your encouragement and advice. Look forward to posts that lack any mention of doctors for the next several weeks (until Jack's next immunizations). We're having a lot of fun posting various milestones* in video format, so keep checking in.


*note: milestones are defined by Jack's parents and may include anything from successfully punching a button with a lion picture on it to breaking drooling records to first steps.
